There were students/families who needed those items and were so thankful for your donation. The student love coming into my office and having fun and comfy seating options on where they can seat. Students now have different options on where they get to sit, comfortable seat on the floor or up on the big fluffy comfy chair. The students are loving the weighted stuffed animal especially when they are sad, and the fidgets have been a great tool to have access to for the students who need them. \r\n\r\nMy office is a calm down space to help students self regulate and get back to their learning environment. The tissue are such a needed useful item along with the cleaning wipes it keep the germs off the fidgets and a clean space, we are very grateful to everything provided to us. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the big purple chair they could not wait to have it opened and they were ready to take turns sitting it in. I defiantly need to get another one soon. The students also are enjoying the floor seats, they love everything so much. The SEL books have been a great reminder for students to understand why it's so important to be kind always and a good human. All items have been so beneficial for students and will continue to be throughout the school year. The kids are very excited to learn how to make hats. I was donated a big box of yarn as well, so the students are able to have a large selection of yarn colors and types to choose from. \r\n\r\nI originally created this for my enrichment class. I introduced it slowly, but they were eager to begin, so we just jumped in and most students learned through trial and error. I was doubtful that we would have any completed hats! With the exception of one or two, all of them showed perseverance and willingness to undo their work and start over. You can see from the photos what they produced!\r\n\r\nAdditionally, a group of students, grades 1-8, meet in my classroom after school. Each of them has started a hat! They taught each other as I am not part of this group. I explained to them that they were donated to them. They were very grateful and could not wait to use everything!\r\n\r\nThe weighted stuffed animal is a favorite. It's so comforting to all grade levels from KG to 8th grade students. The students really love cuddling with it, especially when they may be feeling down. The check in tools have been such a great way for students to express how they may be feeling then having to tell me when they may not be ready to talk quit yet. \r\n\r\nThe journals are used in weekly groups and the students really like that they have something they can use instead of plan paper/it's theirs and having the book style is special to them. The students come right in and are ready to write how their week has been and look forward to this activity.
