My Students

Please help us bring the joy of reading into the lives of our young students. You are their Hope of becoming lifetime readers.

My students are very special little people who deserve a chance in the real world.

It is unfortunate they live in high poverty with limited resources. The school has very limited funds now with all the budget cuts. No funds for books! There are no substitutes for a book in the life of a child. In some cases the book is the only friend they have - their security at night when they take the book to bed with them.

My Project

Through the characters and their story in Charlotte's Web, the students will develop an appreciation of friendship and teamwork and an understanding of how to overcome obstacles when pursuing their goals in life. This will be a school wide reading activity - using a variety of activities each day. The entire staff (teachers, cafeteria workers, custodians, etc.) will be reading as well in order to model good reading practices and also enable them to interact with the students about their reading.

project will create excitement in the school and demonstrate how reading can be fun and enjoyable. There is no greater gift you can give a child than a book! Please help us put books into the hands of our students and to instill the love of reading. This is truly a gift that will last a lifetime.
