This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In the year 2000, having our current classroom computer would have been incredible! The trouble is, it's 2010, and it's still that same computer.

My students are 100% English language learners from low-income, immigrant, inner city families.

They are incredibly eager to learn as much as possible, and LOVE coming to school! Our school is an urban public school which receives little extra funding. Approximately 90% of our students receive free or reduced lunch prices.

My Project

With a new computer, my students will be able to access a multitude of educational resources on the Internet (our current computer can't run the majority of new games!). We have also been offered new educational software (www.imaginelearning.com) created specifically for English language development and reading skill improvement. These are the two areas in which my students struggle the most. This software (which we can't run without an up-to-date computer) will create fun and specific lessons to meet the students at their level.

With a little support and generosity from you, my students will have the opportunity to access technology that may not be present anywhere else in their lives.

This brand new computer will help students get ready to live and work in a technological world!
