My Students

Students who love to sing and dance come into my choir classroom every day and and work very hard. They want to do their very best, but sometimes have trouble practicing outside of choir time. They need to have practice CDs and DVDs to help them learn their vocal parts and choreography at home.

I am honored to teach in a very wonderful, diverse, urban, middle school, (grades 6-8)in Indiana.

We have approximately 750 students. 64% of our students are on Free and Reduced Lunch. Our school's ethnicity is 45% African American, 28% Caucasian, 18% Hispanic, 4% Asian, and 5% Multiracial. We have over 110 English Language Learners from all around the world in our school. Many of these students are refugees. Choir is a place where my students feel safe, comfortable, and can express themselves through music. They take great pride in doing their best in their concerts. It is a joy working with these students.

My Project

Although my students try very hard during class, they need extra practice time outside of our regular rehearsals. With the help of a Microboard Copywriter DVD 516 CD/DVD duplicator, I can make copies of individual voice parts (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) on Cd's for them to take home to practice. Show Choir is very big in our school district so we do a lot of choreography. My students love this. The choreography is often quite challenging. That is where the DVD duplication will help. We can video the choreography to be learned and students will be able to practice at home.

Although I do have many students who achieve academically across the curriculum, I also have students including the English Language Learners who struggle in their other classes.

Choir is a place where they can all feel good about themselves and accomplish their musical goals. The feeling they get and the looks on their faces at the end of a great concert is just priceless. Thank you for considering a donation to help us achieve those "Magical Musical Moments."
