My Students

Do you remember the first time you had to learn to count to 100? Or how about learning those multiplication and division facts? It was all memorization and boring stuff to do. I would like to provide my students with the chance to learning math in a fun environment.

At our year round elementary school, students are here from July to June learning and studying.

So with so much time being spent here at school, wouldn't it be a great idea to make learning fun and enjoyable so that students want to stay in school? I work on a team of 4 teachers who teach special education. Our students already do not understand what is going on in their own classrooms, and need more support to help them learn. What better way to learn than to make it fun. We teach students from Kindergarten to fifth grade. That means we teach learning to count and recognize numbers to add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions and geometry. We teach it all.

My Project

I am requesting some fun games and center activities to do with our students to learn simple math concepts such as multiplication. Wouldn't it be fun to learn to multiply and be able to play bingo at the same time? Who wouldn't love that? Some students have a real hard time with word problems, so I've requested a story problem game to help students understand word problems better.

By giving these students math games, you are empowering them to learn those hard math concepts in a much easier way.

A lot of our students do not have the best home life so we try to make school the most enjoyable thing so that they will know school is a good thing and will not drop out in a few years. This project will provide many students to come with the opportunities they didn't normally have.
