I was overwhelmed by your generosity, and the quickness with which you responded to our request. We wanted to ensure that this project is a success and took the summer months to prepare to launch it in the new school year. \r\n\r\nOur media and digital learning goal four our school this year comes from the American Library Association's definition of strong libraries: \r\n\r\nA strong school library program displays a commitment to inclusiveness and respect for diversity that is embodied in its policies, instruction, programming, materials, and pedagogy. This includes ensuring access, amplifying historically marginalized voices, and promoting literature and informational texts that reflect the lives, experiences, and interests of all students.\r\n\r\nWith your help we are better able to serve our Hispanic community. Over 50% of our students do not have English as their primary language spoken at home. We want to give each family the opportunity to read together, and your donation is helping us do that.\r\n\r\nA few personal examples: \r\nA group of 2nd grade Hispanic boys have really engaged with the books. These boys previously refused to borrow books, but are now eager to find books they can read with their families. \r\n\r\nA lot of students are checking out the books to read with their younger siblings at home. \r\n\r\nWe are looking forward to seeing how these books continue to impact our students and help them feel welcome in our school.","fullyFundedDate":1741552297853,"projectUrl":"project/reading-together-bilingual-books/9106619/","projectTitle":"Reading Together: Bilingual Books","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Green","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9222993_orig.png?crop=1080,1080,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1739287843421","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9222993"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1793","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":658,"numTeachers":43,"percentFrplEligible":57,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":42,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":70.7,"schoolId":1793,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Adams Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Adams Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/wake-county-public-school-system/adams-elementary-school/1793"}
