My Students

Students with autism often lack independent play skills, and the six growing boys in my classroom are no exception. They need toys, and skills, that will help them make the transition from kindergarten to first grade. Building blocks and toy people will foster hours of imaginative play.

My six students with autism are active, energetic and eager to learn and experience hands-on activities!

They live in an urban area and attend a public school. These growing boys represent the entire spectrum of autism, from non-verbal and behaviorally-challenged to Asperger's Syndrome. They have one thing in common: they love to build and explore.

My Project

Building blocks will help my students to build age-appropriate, independent play skills on a daily basis. Once they are introduced to the classroom, we will be able to create opportunities for sharing, turn-taking and role playing. These blocks truly have the potential to change my students' lives, one brick at a time!

Your gift of these building blocks, toy people and a building block table will help to nurture and develop play skills and social skills that will last a lifetime.

By introducing my students to age-appropriate, engaging play materials, you will help them to overcome the barriers that separate them from their peers.
