This project has made a meaningful impact on how my preschool students experience science and exploration in our classroom.\r\n\r\nAs we move through each new unit, I introduce a related STEM activity to deepen understanding through hands-on learning. During our recent Wheels unit, students explored ramps and motion in exciting and meaningful ways. They investigated how toy cars travel down ramps, observed what happens when the ramp is raised higher or lowered, and experimented with different surface textures to see how they affected speed and movement.\r\n\r\nThrough these activities, students learned foundational scientific concepts such as cause and effect, motion, gravity, and friction. They asked questions, made predictions, tested their ideas, and adjusted their thinking based on what they observed. Even at the preschool level, they were engaging in authentic scientific inquiry.\r\n\r\nWith these materials, I was able to create structured, hands-on experiences rather than just discussing concepts. Students were able to physically manipulate ramps, test different textures, and collaborate with peers. This not only strengthened their problem-solving skills but also built language development as they described what they noticed: \"It went faster!\" \"This one is bumpy!\" \"Let's make it higher!\"\r\n\r\nIn the coming months, we will continue expanding our STEM explorations with activities such as sink and float investigations, where students will test different objects in water, make predictions, and learn about buoyancy. These ongoing hands-on experiences will continue to nurture curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence in exploring scientific ideas.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project makes learning joyful and interactive. Students are fully engaged, excited to experiment, and eager to share their discoveries. In preschool, children spend a large portion of their day sitting, playing, reading, and learning on the rug. Having a clean and sanitary space is essential to maintaining a healthy classroom environment and supporting their well-being.\r\n\r\nIt is also a huge plus to know that I can clean and refresh the rug whenever needed—especially if a student has an accident. At this age, accidents are a normal part of development.
