My students need small raffle prizes, such as 12 flash drives, candy, mechanical pencils, markers, and nice pens to write with, in order to start off the school year well.

My Students

Were you a self-motivated high schooler or did you need some extrinsic motivation in the morning to get out of bed? All of my students have dreams and are amazing. Some of them, however, need more than long term goals in order to help them get to school on time everyday.

I work as a 10th grade math teacher in New York, and as such, encounter students with all sorts of different levels of motivation.

Being high school students, they sometimes have difficulty getting to class on time. I truly believe that EVERY one of my students can achieve successfully and well, but part of that success lies in their attendance. For this reason, I am planning on starting a raffle system this year. Each student that shows up on time, prepared, and ready to go gets a ticket. At the end of class, a ticket is chosen and a student gets a small prize for being responsible and prepared.

My Project

Prizes will range from candy to pens to flash drives. My students come from various socio-economic backgrounds, but by and large can't afford many school supplies. This is a chance for them to understand the social norms that will enable success in high school, college and beyond: specifically that showing up on time and being prepared is a valuable skill in the real world.

Your donation will make a huge impact on some of my students who may not yet understand the values of these social skills.

As a teacher, I do not simply value the teaching of mathematics, I also value those precious life skills my students need to achieve in college and beyond. The raffle system is a small but powerful of engendering that change. With your donation, I can make a big impact with very small rewards. Thanks so much for your consideration and time.
