This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember your first day in Fourth grade? Peter recalls tales of being a Fourth grade nothing, as Fudge, his younger little brother, gets all of the attention. This is a very personable story that all Fourth graders should have a chance to read.

My students LOVE to read, but given our school's poor neighborhood, the $600,000 still being cut from our charter school next year, and my husband still being out of a job, there is no money to purchase literature books.

My students can listen to me read, but there is a much greater effect when every child can hold onto his/her own book!

My Project

One of my greatest joys is spending 20 minutes daily reading aloud a literature book with my students. After five years of doing this, I found a trick--give every child a chance to read and listen to the same book, ask for participants to perform improv. scenes from the story, and the students' reading comprehension skills soar! Reading is made fun and students have tapped into their auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning modalities.

Reading, listening, speaking, and writing are all life-skills that can be practiced through your donation.

The best present you can give a child is a book--a world of comedy and adventure awaits!
