Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the drill and kill method of math. I know I do. The teacher would quickly teach a concept and I would memorize. Well, we are teaching a new generation of kids.

My students are located in a low income school district.

They are very visual learners and need extra stimulation in order to learn mathematics. They are very hands on and like to practice concepts with games and manipulatives. The students I teach love math and are ready to learn.

My Project

The games and math materials I have chosen will help my second graders be able to bring math alive. I have chosen board games, flash cards and real life math practice materials to bring alive the lessons I teach. What better way is there to reinforce a concept like math then to have the kids practice it in ways they will remember? Simple memorization does not work with today's kids. The kids we teach today are used to video games and visual learning.

Please help me to help my children bring math to life in the classroom.

Kids of today rely more and more on visual and auditory learning them on simple memorization. With these materials you can bring the gift of sights and sounds to my math class.
