Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The world today revolves around technology! Why not use 21st century tools to increase student engagement and learning opportunities for my students? The students I have in my classroom today are the same students who will be running the world tomorrow! It is my job to bring the world to them!

My students come from families that work exceptionally hard to put a roof over their heads and food on the table.

The students who will be entering into my classroom this fall will be starting a new journey because our school is a new school which combined two elementary schools into one! They are excited and a bit apprehensive about a new school and a new teacher! I want to make their 2nd grade year an unforgettable one! My students come to me with a variety of learning styles, strengths and weaknesses. It is my job to make everyday count and engage my students in ways they didn't know was possible. Some may not speak much English and have only been in the United States for a short time; they may still have family in another country. Others may not see their parents much because they are out working multiple jobs in order to supply their children with basic essentials. When my students enter my room, I want them to have the same learning opportunities that wealthy students have!

My Project

Through your donation my students will have access to the world via the World Wide Web. My students will be able to tell the world what they are learning about here in Colorado! As mentioned above, many of my students have family in other countries, therefore my students will be able to show their family members what they are learning about. Students learn in a variety of different ways! Technology is one avenue that may empower by students to learn. They will have access to a computer that they can take right to their desk and answer any question they may have or post something on our classroom blog that they just learned. Technology is the way of the world. My students will learn how to use the word processor to write paragraphs and stories. We will be able to create electronic photo-books to tell our classrooms' story. I have so many ideas as to how these two laptops will be used and I'm positive my students will have many more!

Your gift will change the lives of not only the 24 students I have this year in 2nd grade, but it will empower those students who come into my classroom during literacy and math as well as the student I will have in the future.
