The first item is a classroom set of LCD write on/erase off boards that we call \"Our Magic Boards.\" We use them on an almost daily basis! This allows the kids to show their learning without using just another boring worksheet. We practice our letters, our sounds, our names, our handwriting, our spelling, our numbers, our addition and subtraction, and our drawings. And these boards allow me to see each and every student's thinking in one quick glance. I can see who has it, who needs a little support, and who needs a lot of support in less than 30 seconds---priceless! We have a 15 minute section everyday to use these boards and if something else happens to come up, the students are asking right away, \"What about our Magic Boards?\" These boards really are MAGIC! The second big ticket item purchased with the Donors Choose funding is a set of 5 movable, vertical white boards. The students use these several times a week to work collaboratively to solve math problems. It allows them a safe, easy erasable space to work through their thinking together and once again allows me access to see their learning and thinking without just another worksheet.
