Meet The Press!

My students need a Flip Camcorder and portable DVD player to become confident readers, news reporters, and a helping hand to the school community.

My Students

Year after year students write the same old book reviews, take home classroom newsletters, and listen to the outdated books on tape. My 3rd grade students are ready for an exciting change! In our Hollywood themed classroom we try to get the inside scoop about the classroom and the books we read.

I teach at a school that serves students in the largest geographic area in our district and is rapidly growing.

Our school strives to keep moving forward and to keep learners on their toes. The entire school and local community work together to ensure our school meets its ultimate goal: Student Success. We just need a little extra help from you!

My Project

I am requesting for my class one digital Flip Camera and one Portable DVD player. The digital Flip Camera will allow my students to record themselves giving a book review of a self selected book. Students will answer questions about the book they have read and upload the video instantly for other students to watch. Other students watch the reviews and choose to read the same book or not to. Students will also use the Flip Camera to be the weekly news reporter. Students will report on the hot topics that are taking place within the classroom. These videos will then be uploaded to our classroom website. Parents, teachers, staff, and the community will know the inside scoop in our classroom. I would also like students to use the Flip Camera to record themselves reading a book. Students can watch the DVD on the portable DVD player. Students will build their confidence and our classroom library with books on DVD. We would also like to donate books on DVD to our school library to give back.

I know that this will build confidence and a love of reading with my students.

This project will benefit all of my students, their parents, the school, and the community. Students will be exposed to technology and the many uses of one form of technology. My students will become confident readers and speakers before the school year if over!
