My Students

Our school had adopted not only new math textbooks but also a new on-line mathematics program to help them with their basic math facts as well as time, measurement, and money. In order to fully use this new program, my students need access to computers and the Internet.

My students are 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who attend a rural school in Oklahoma.

Many of them have gone to school together all of their lives. Some of them have computers and the Internet at home but many of them do not. These students enjoy learning and enjoy participating in classroom projects. However, the basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, are not always one of their areas of strength. I would like to provide them with the opportunity to make these topics one of their skills that they can take pride in.

My Project

Having a netbook laptop computer in the classroom that allows students to connect to the Internet would allow my students to use the technology that goes along with our new math textbooks but also allows them to use our new on-line program called "First In Math." Students who don't have computers at home would be able to use the program right there in their mathematics class.

Technology today is so important for students....it is their future... so we must make it part of their learning today.

Having a netbook in the classroom can help to make this happen for my students today and for year's to come.
