My Students

My classroom has approximately 100 different students through the door daily. We share desks, tables, pencils, scissors, keyboards, and other materials. This creates an environment where reducing the spread of germs is a major challenge.

My students are identified as being behind their grade level skills.

They come to my classroom to receive small group instruction with myself and my assistants. Our school is a high poverty school with about 72% of our students receiving free or reduced priced meals in our cafeteria. Most of the families I work with cannot afford to supply our room with the items we need.

My Project

I am requesting facial tissue and antibacterial wipes to help reduce the spread of cold and flu germs during the school year. Because of the frequent sharing of materials by the large number of students in and out of my room, the spread of germs is a serious concern. Having the facial tissue available will encourage students to use them to prevent the spread of germs through coughing and sneezing. Keeping the desks, pencils, door knobs, keyboards, and other shared materials clean with the antibacterial wipes will greatly reduce the spread of germs and help keep kids well and improve attendance.

Keeping kids well and in school is a serious concern throughout the school year.

My kids are already at a disadvantage due to being behind in skills when they come to me. I need to do what I can to help keep them well and in school so that my assistants and I can support them in overcoming that educational gap.
