Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Did you ever do a math problem right and want to show it off to your class? My students are eager to show off their work, but have to endure the tedium of re-copying it on the white board in dry erase markers that dry out and squeak with every stroke.

My students are vibrant kids in a suburban atmosphere.

They have school spirit and come to life at our athletic events. They come from hard-working families with high expectations and strive to meet them through strong academic performance and school involvement.

My Project

I show my students the importance of math using exploratory work in which multiple approaches and solutions to the same problem are valued in classroom discussion. Document cameras facilitate this efficiently on the big screen! When we work on problems students can come to the camera, put down their paper, and show the class their approach on the projection screen. My students can be very focused, but tend to lose focus during times of transition. The camera will increase the speed of the delivery of the lesson and cut this transition time. Students will no longer have to wait and watch as the presenter re-copies their work onto the board. The presenter will be able to instantaneously share their approach with the class, eliminating the transition and making the lesson fast-paced and exciting. Saving time will free up instructional time to accomplish other goals, and as a math teacher working through a long list of standards, this time is invaluable.

I am working in a school district that is weathering a challenging budget year.

We are facing a 43 million dollar budget deficit, but I don't want to let this stand in the way of my students' achievement. I appreciate your efforts to support me!
