My Students

Do you remember finding all sorts of lost items in your desk at the end of the school year? With seat sacks, we will eliminate the problem of misplaced supplies. With tables instead of desks, it is necessary to have individual storage.

My students are first graders in a small naturally beautiful rural school district of 300 in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

The teachers and staff put their hearts into student learning. As they say, it takes a village to raise a child! We currently have one class per grade. When I was hired 11 years ago, we had two classes per grade and 7 new teachers! The economic crisis in public schools surfaced here well before the country's "recession".

My Project

Seat sacks will enable students to store personal supplies on the backs of chairs to maximize learning time. Transitions between activities take longer when students are searching for supplies. We previously had "pockets" along the walls for supplies but time was still wasted gathering necessary items. We will store our writing folders, literacy station folders, pencils, glue sticks, erasers and other supplies.

First graders will use these seat sacks for years to come!

Students will reminisce and think about how convenient it was to have supplies at their fingertips. Seat sacks will enable students to learn organizational skills and they will add to learning time!
