My Students

My art students love the visual arts. Often times they tell me how they would like to be an artist or an art teacher when they grow up.

My art students attend an urban Title I school where many of the students have disabilities.

Art motivates and excites the students at my school. They are interested in careers in the visual arts but do not really understand all the opportunities they could have in the visual arts. I want their eyes to be open to multiple visual arts careers.

My Project

The resources I am requesting for my art students include visual arts career posters, a DVD examining careers in the visual arts and display cards with visual art careers written on them. These resources will change my students' lives for the better because it will give them ideas for where their love for the visual arts can take them, and thy will understand that the visual arts does not have to be just a hobby.

The students at my school are limited in their exposure to a variety of careers.

The art supply budget does not allow me to buy extra items - like posters and DVDs. If funded, I plan on creating a permanent wall display outside of the art classroom with the career resources. I will use the resources for many years to come so the broad impact on my students' lives could be dramatic and make a life-changing difference.
