Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Everyone needs to know how to read. The games I have selected for my proposal will enhance and reinforce the skills I have taught in reading. When the students can practice their skills after they have learned them, the skill will most likely be retained.

My students are very sweet.

I am their Reading Interventionist, so they come to me for fifty minutes everyday and I reinforce and practice phonics skills and reading with fluency. Ideally, this will help with their test scores as well as their grades. They enjoy coming to my classroom because I am not their regular classroom teacher. The group is small so they are under control. Our school is located in a middle or lower class area. Their parents work two to three jobs to support their family. We provide as much as we can at school, but we are also on a budget that is limited. They are very appreciative of whatever they have and can get. They have to be that way when their resources are sparse.

My Project

It's like their birthday or Christmas when we get new games or activities. The students love to play with new things because we use what we have so often. The games I have selected will enable them to learn the skill better and help them work with others in a group and get along. They don't get many opportunities to play games in the classroom because the classroom teacher has so many demands. That is why I love my job, because the students come to me for reinforcement. My students leave my room knowing a particular skill better and happy because they learned and practiced through a game. It's great for me too because the games are like instant centers. Easy to put out and clean up.

My project is so important to me because it gives the students a chance to practice their reading and skills through laughter and fun.

It make the learning process more entertaining. If learning can still be done, why not take out a game and have a good time. It's time and money well spent!
