My Students

If you have ever been on a team, you know how important that experience was.

I teach at a high-needs urban high school.

We share our building, and our athletic teams, with two other high schools. Our students are adventurous but have few opportunities to try new things. Combined, there are about 1500 students in the building, but there are only 6 athletic teams for each gender!

My Project

I am starting a swim team to give more students the opportunity to participate on athletic teams. I have had an extremely enthusiastic response from many of the students who are interested in joining. Some students already know how to swim, others are dying to learn. In order to have a team, however, we need equipment! We need a pace clock to make practice possible. Students will use the pace clock to do practice sets and to time themselves as they swim.

Your donation will give my students a chance to do something new - participate on a swim team.

It will provide athletic opportunities to students who are not interested in football, basketball, or cheerleading. Being on a team is a truly enriching experience. Thank you for giving my students the chance to swim!
