My Students

Our Italian Immersion kindergarten program offers urban students the chance to acquire a second language at a young age. Our small public school is in a urban area and has a severely tight budget. With 32 students in a small classroom, our students require organizational and center materials.

Our Italian Immersion program is unique and our kindergarten students come from very diverse races, cultures and ethnic backgrounds.

Working in an urban district, many of our students struggle with issues related to poverty - over 75% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Like many other public schools across the nation, our school is facing serious budget constraints. As a result, we have to teach many students in a small space and with limited resources. These constraints encourage us to teach creatively and make the best of what we have available.

My Project

The resources requested will be used to improve student organization and improve our small centers & group learning time. The organizational bin will provide each student with a location in the class to place their work. Currently students have folders that they place in one basket, but the students would benefit from having a spot to put their work and belongings. The majority of the other items would be used during our small literature, reading and math centers. The small whiteboards would allow students to write and produce independent work while sitting on the floor. The markers, erasers and scissors all would help student learning during center time.

Donating the requested resources will provide our students with an opportunity to have a more enriching and engaging kindergarten experience. Let's help these kids as early in their academic development as possible!
