My Students

The special education students that I need to reach enter my tenth grade class with low literacy skills and the more technologically based my room can be the more accessible my curriculum will be. This will allow my students and me to meet on a common ground, Technology.

My students range in age from 15-19 and are all tenth graders.

They are students who for the most part come from disadvantaged neighborhoods and households, and are most interested in technology, music, and sports. The school that these kids attend is in dire need of improvement, and was slated for restructuring. The students in my class have extremely poor attendance, and a fear of attending school. Their fear is of both physical and mental nature. My classroom has recently been given a smartboard and I will love to have another piece of technology to help me to reach my students.

My Project

I am requesting a Flip Hd Camcorder. This Flip camera will allow me to upload my classroom lessons to my teacher driven website or to Youtube so that if a student would like to view a lesson again the lesson will be accessible. By uploading my lessons to a website with Audio and Video students who were late, or didn't attend class will still be able to view my lecture and get caught up on their own time. This will surely change my students lives for the better and allow me to reach a broader range of students. This will also hopefully allow our school to meet is annual goals as prescribed by NYS Education.

This project is so important because it will allow me to be an agent of change within my school, and the broader educational community.

This form of differentiated instruction could truly be the wave of the future, by fully integrating technology into my classroom.
