My Students

At the Kindergarten level students are curious and want to touch and look at everything. Having an exploration science center allows them to discover the properties of various materials.

I have six special needs children with various levels of learning.

Each have different needs but all love to do hands on activities. Being a new teacher in a high poverty school district materials are in short supply. These science centers provide manipulative and actives each student can be part of and explore.

My Project

Within a special education class many modifications are provided to provide the best education for each student. It is important for a teacher to provide various materials and means to teach the same lesson so to teach the children well. We need science materials on our senses, seasons and weather, and instant learning centers to explore properties of materials in the world. With different centers the students are able to explores different lessons with many different materials at their own speed and work independently.

This project is important because it provided opportunities for students in a high poverty district to experience different science lessons.

Children with special needs have a lot of sensory needs which makes it necessary to provide many materials to use in lessons.
