My students need two netbooks for student use in the classroom to free up an area for small group instruction.

My Students

Our school was built in the 1920s. I have just enough room for our student desks and a very small reading/media center, not to mention ancient computers. However, I do not have a place to work with small groups. I would love to be able to convert my computer table I have now to a small group table.

We are a Title 1 school in Texas.

We have a high poverty level of students who do not have access to technology at home. We are located in a residential neighborhood. A lot of our families are of multicultural families. My students really enjoy using technology in the room even if it is just watching as I do something from my computer.

My Project

The computers we have now in our classroom are big and take up a lot of room leaving no place for me to conduct small group lessons. With HP Mini Netbooks, the students would be able to take them to their seats and use them and make room for small group lessons. Not only that but they could also work in small groups on the netbooks. The netbooks will also integrate our technology skills into everyday learning.

Our students love to learn through technology, but more importantly they would have direct access to it.

In a classroom the size of mine it is so tough for me to be able to focus on just a few students to stress a concept when I have no place to do so. The netbooks would definitely clear up some space for me to be able to do that.
