My Students

Help our ESL students! Our school is a Title I school with 22% of students served in the ESL program. However, only 1% of our collection in the Media Center are Spanish or bilingual books. We need picture, chapter, and non-fiction books to encourage students who are learning English.

We have many students who enter our school speaking limited English.

By increasing the number of books that are available to them in Spanish and Spanish/English, they will be able to improve their reading skills as they learn English and make a more rapid transition to a successful English-speaking student.

My Project

I am requesting popular picture and chapter books such as Fancy Nancy, Olivia, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid that students will enjoy reading. Students love non-fiction books, so I am also requesting a number of books about dinosaurs, ocean life, and sports.

By donating to this project, you will help our students who speak limited English as they make the transition to English speaker.

My students are eager learners and need books to read!
