My Students

The Horticulture Department at our high school is under constant threat of being shut down or cut out of the curriculum, despite high enrollment numbers and student interest. These selected information books correspond with the horticulture class curriculum.

Our high school is located in a rural area of North Carolina on the outskirts of a military base.

Many of our students are children of the men and women who are actively serving in our military. These bright young men and women enjoy the varied curricular offerings at our high school as they prepare for college and consider their futures.

My Project

My students need information books on plants and animals to correspond with our horticulture class! Students love to work with their hands and learn about nature, wildlife, plants, trees and flowers. This class is a valued elective that helps students broaden their experience and understanding of the world with hands-on activities and direct results. Several students have been so influenced by their success in Horticulture that they have sought out careers as Botanists, Landscapers, Production Horticultural Specialists and with the National Park Service.

Help us keep the Horticulture Department alive and growing!

These selected books will benefit the students now and for years to come. What better way to encourage at risk students than to help them develop a love of the earth and all things that grow?
