Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Usually class sizes are extremely large around 40 students. The use of laptops will increase the instructional knowledge of my students. They will be able to have the knowledge and skills necessary to use technology in a very meaningful way.

"I teach United States History, Government, and Psychology to urban students in a high needs community.

Contrary to popular belief, America's youth do not necessarily know how to use computers, at least not in a useful manner. The root cause is because they do not have regular access to build the skills they need. The few computers available (in the form of a computer lab and one COW) are always in demand and often unavailable because of the efforts of other teachers to help our students. Classrooms need computers if they are ever to build these skills beyond just basic use.

My Project

I want to supply my students with two laptops to use in my classroom whenever they are needed (both officially and unofficially). These laptops would provide students with plenty of opportunities to gain the skills they need. This is just phase one of a multiphase process in which I intend to fully integrate my classroom in an effort to prepare students for life after High School, especially those college bound.

Your contribution will not only give students modern, up-to-date tools in which to enhance their learning, it will also give students who do not have a chance to get time with computers (due to a lack of resources at home or lack of basic skills) a real 21st century education, in order to prepare them for college and life after college.
