My Students

Many of my students have never had the support at home to learn their tables. Most count on their fingers or rely simply on calculators. They must learn the basic math facts if they are to go out and find jobs.

My students live below the poverty level and often have parents who lack the basic skills to help them read and write along with learning their math skills.

My district is very focused on reading, but I worry we will lose the race in math and science if students do not soon develop their math skills.

My Project

My students need electronic games to help them learn to multiply and divide from memory. Students will learn to sit, and at their own pace, develop a life-long knowledge of basic math, since the machine is more game-like and they can work without fear of others laughing at them. They will learn to try new and different things because this lead to success! I would like also to grow my centers to allow an addition center with Flashmaster.com machines at a later date to have parents come and learn with their children.

I will develop different centers in the room so each child will also get more one-on-one time with the teacher while other students develop knowledge on their own!

I would also like to add an area where students and parents could work together in my math classroom to develop different math and technology skills and this would be just the beginning.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
