Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We cannot remember when we took our first steps. With your help, my students will.

My students attend a center-based, Title I school for students with severe cognitive and orthopedic impairments.

They are High School students with all of the same wants, hopes, and dreams that all teenagers have. We strive to provide our students with all of the same opportunities that their typically developing peers have. We have a prom, a graduation ceremony, and student-elected government officers.

My Project

I am requesting a KidWalk II Mobility System which is a new, exciting way to expand the mobility opportunities of students with orthopedic impairments. This mobility system is completely innovative in how it allows students to expand their mobility while also interact with their environment. It is different from anything we have on campus because the bulk of the supports are behind the student, which allow them to approach and interact with their environment with nothing in the way- the same way that we do. This will not only help to expand their mobility but it will also do so much to help raise my students' self-esteem and self-perception.

Your donation would do so much for my students. The KidWalk II is a new and exciting innovation in expanding the mobility of students with orthopedic impairments. We have already seen advances in mobility just from adjusting one single piece on our existing Gait Trainer mobility equipment to emulate the KidWalk. Just think about what my students could do with the KidWalk!
