My Students

"Recycle Maniacs" are on the loose. My students cannot collect enough cans and bottles. In Januar,y we received a delivery of the blue recycling containers to start our program. The plan was to create a 6th grade awareness and responsibility for caring for our world. Now they want to do more.

My 6th grade students are passionate about learning and "doing" science.

Books are not enough; they thirst for hands-on activities that make sense in their world. They have asked for more recycle bins because "the whole school needs to do this." They are not satisfied with just 6th graders recycling; they want to expand this activity to the 7th and 8th grades as well. They understand that lots of little efforts add up to big results.

My Project

I believe in encouraging students to follow their dreams and make things happen. I was so proud of their desire to improve their world and now they want to include more students in this activity. Initially, we developed measurement skills activities and environment pollution solutions. Now, we hope to develop public speaking skills and public service announcements to raise awareness throughout the school.
