My Students

I am on my fourth year teaching at a lovely Alternative High School. We give students a "last" chance, who have not been successful in other school environments. The school is successful because of innovative programs, instigated by the staff, that keep the students engaged.

Music is what fuels my courses.

I can get a student with two left feet to dance with the right combination of Boys to Men "End Of The Road" followed by Kayne's latest hit. Without music I am a sunken ship. I have been managing with compact discs, but recently they have begun to skip. I am also constantly wasting time by having to walk over the stereo and change CDs.

My Project

With the advent and use of modern technology, in this case the iPod, I will be able to spend less time on changing CDs and more time on teaching my students. In addition, the iPod will give me the opportunity to create class-specific mixes on my computer and download them to the iPod so that I can be that much more prepared by having a mix for my dance class and another mix for my yoga class.

With your help, I will no longer be forced to stop the flow in my class with the "CD shuffle." I will be able to focus more on students by having my playlist set and ready to roll.

Who knows? Maybe I will inspire the next Judith Jamison or Bill T. Jones through my mixes. Your support can make this all possible.
