My students need an HP Mini Netbook Computer to make their classroom more interactive.

I teach 5 amazing classes of students this year. Four of my classes are 6th graders who are studying ancient history. Our curriculum is based around ancient history that includes Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Greece and Rome. Your donation would be directly impacting students in New York City.

Just like many children today, my students love using technology. Their eyes light up when we can view pictures or video of a topic we are learning about instead of only reading about it. I also have noticed that they enjoy talking to their friends about specific units that we have covered that are based on their own heritage.

If we had an HP Notebook Computer in our classroom for student use they would be able to easily have conversations about what we are learning on a classroom blog. I would be able to post specific discussion questions and when students were finished with their work a few minutes early they would be able to easily go to the computer and engage in discussions on this blog. This would also be interesting for them because they would be able to have conversations with students in other sections of 6th grade social studies that I teach. Not only would these students be discussing the work they are learning about but, they could also add in their personal experiences and work on their communication skills.

Your help will ensure that students continue to receive interesting and meaningful social studies education. Blogging will help my students bring their personal experiences to the classroom and will make sure that their communication skills are improved.
