My Students

We live in a Wii wide world, from debit cards to "do it yourself" checkout lanes. It's evident that our children are growing up in an era where everything is fast paced and their education should be too. My first graders need your help!

I teach a first grade class in a high poverty public school.

We do not have a high percentage of parent involvement and since most of them are from low income households, they are not able to provide financial support. My school is a focus school which means that over 75% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. Many of my students come to school without pencils, paper and/or clean clothes. They lack the resources they need to fit their learning needs and learning styles. My students are very competitive and learn best through peer interaction and technology integration whenever possible.

My Project

This ability to integrate technology consistently throughout the day will help my students stay attentive, eliminate behavior problems and most importantly help them reach their reading and math goals. Having an LCD projector will allow us to read books online(Eco friendly),complete interactive writing activities and view videos that help connect the content to build background knowledge in math, science and social studies. It'll help us become more "Wii" allowing the students a chance to take the role of teacher and allow opportunities to learn more about the uses of technology. Everyone is feeling the economy including our students so we aren't able to go on as many field trips as we would like. The LCD projector is able to take us wherever we want to go: Hershey's factory for goods and services, Botanical Gardens for plants and environments and skate parks for inclines and ramps. The LCD projector will allow the students to take ownership of their learning.

I am very in tune to my students needs, learning abilities and capabilities.

I know what drives them and what does not motivate them. The projector will help students learn the skills they need to increase academic achievement as well as help them to become life long learners. Will you help us out, Wii really need your help?
