Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a football coach for a inner city 75 year old school. We are constantly trying to update our equipment in our weight room. The room is a great room and can facilitate our athletes needs. Our equipment though is 25 years old and in need of constant repair. So we are planning to begin replacing items that are really needed. Although we do need heavy weight lifting equipment, even the little things help.

We are an inner city school that for the most part has lower income families. As a head football coach my goal has always been to give our athletes an football experience that rivals the bigger more privately funded programs from around the city. We have done many upgrades to the football facilities and equipment, but now I am trying to redux our weight room. This is a much larger task because of the fact that I can not use football funds to pay for non-football items. Although I consider the weight room a football item, the school district does not.

As our athletes have made huge strides in the classroom and in the weight room we are at a stand still with our current equipment. In order for our athletes to safely conduct heavier weights we as a program need to provide the tools and safety equipment for them to succeed. My students need weight lifting belts for the weight room. We are tying to upgrade our facilities equipment. This order would allow us to have a weight belt of the most used sizes at each rack, and a larger one if needed.

These little upgrades to our current weight room will ensure that our athletes are properly attired with safety equipment to be successful.
