Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a 4th grade teacher at a Title I funded pubic school. I work at a school in the middle of a low-income neighborhood. The students that I have the pleasure of working for daily represent many cultures, races and religions. Many are students of immigrants or are first-born American Citizens themselves.

My dream is for students in my class to take part in an actual Science Fair, the very thing I used to get so excited about when I was in fourth grade. I have the opportunity to teach students who are Academically Gifted, and naturally excited about science. I think that a Science Fair would be the perfect opportunity to expose students to the wonderful act of completing and an experiment and then presenting all their research.

In order for my students to fully take part in a science fair, I would like to have donated the Science Display boards. This will give students the opportunity to really take pride and ownership in their work and research by allowing them the means to properly present their work. I can already see my student's face filled of pride and joy as they stand next to their science boards that they have worked so hard on for the past couple of months. I am also excited about the joy that it would bring to the families of students who; would love to provide for their students in that capacity, but unfortunately struggle with meeting day to day basic needs.

Your help will ensure that my students have the opportunity to explore the field of science and math in a brand new way. These boards will be the perfect ending for students who have already begun to work so hard on their experiments. Your donation will give many students an opportunity not only to achieve academic goals but also, personal goals. Students will present their board in a science fair; for all parents and community members to take part in, this event has the ability to bring our whole community together. This is the first time that my school has had the chance to expose our students to something like this and with your help this could really be the start of something new not just for my students but for many fourth graders to come.
