Ms. Jones Winton Elementary School
Coeur D Alene, ID Grades 3-5

I teach charming and intelligent 4th graders in New York. The children come from low socio-economic households and nearly all of my students are English Language Learners. They are extremely kind and love being classroom helpers.

Throughout my years teaching I have been buying books for my classroom in order to expose my students to as many books as I could. I wanted my students to love reading and enjoy good books. The problem is that I do not have bookshelves. I have two very old bookcases that do not have shelves in them any more. I have neatly stacked milk crates inside of the bookcase frame. Every now and then for no apparent reason the milk crates will fall over. It does not look nice and I want to teach the students to take care of the things they have. When my books are stacked in milk crates it is not sending the message that our books are cherished.

I would love for my students to have our classroom books on bookshelves. I want the children to be able to look for books without worrying about books falling on top of them. It would be wonderful to be able to have an organized and beautiful classroom library.

Your help would provide my students with the opportunity to better use the books in our classroom. You would make it possible for them to learn how to take care of their things. I wish for my students to care about taking good care of themselves and taking good care of their brains. I wish for them to love books and enjoy the process of finding a great book, your help would better equip the children to obtain these goals.
