Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My public high school's API is in California's lowest 5%. This is not due to student inability, rather lack of resources and rigor. My 11th and 12th grade AP psychology students are dedicated to academic success even within a school that graduates only half of the students who begin ninth grade.
We have very few Advanced Placement classes and last year 0 students passed the AP Psychology exam. Our textbooks are outdated and not easily accessible. Students are incredibly passionate about Psychology, but cannot afford supplemental resources or exam preparation materials.
We need a Psychology book for summer reading that prepares students for the course and is easily accessible. The Story of Psychology is inspiring and comprehensive, and will provide students with an incredible start to the AP psychology journey. With this foundation, students will be on their way to passing the AP exam!
With your help, this group of 36 disadvantaged students will do something that 0 students at our school had the support to do- pass the AP psychology exam. With AP classes dwindling, and resources scarce, this group of students are fighting to succeed academically. While most around them dropout or struggle to graduate, these students are demanding the most of themselves in their commitment to enroll and succeed in challenging Advanced Placement classes. Your generous donation will help them achieve their ultimate goal: to pass the AP psychology exam and gain college credit! Thank you SO much.
