Needy Kids Need NonFiction!

My students need 17 non-fiction materials to read!

My 28 third graders live in a high-need community (90% POVERTY RATE) and need to access more non-fiction books. 80% of what adults read is non-fiction and kids need more exposure in order to successfully comprehend the elements of non-fiction.

Disadvantage breads disadvantage! Limited resources and poverty are the two factors that hold students back in this high-needs community. Most of my students, do not have books at home and have limited knowledge of the world around them (specifically social studies and science). Help even the gap by contributing reading materials that students will use daily.

Our class needs more non-fiction books, like National Geographic Readers, for our small reading groups and for independent reading time. These 17 books will also help extend my students understanding of social studies and science concepts. We have a limited number of non-fiction books in our class library, and students need daily exposure to non-fiction.

A simple way to make an immediate difference! Students in my classroom will have exposure to your donation on a DAILY basis! You will make it possible for my students to read non-fiction material and prepare them for life (again, 80% of adult reading material is non-fiction).
