We Need Books To Help Us To Continue To Explore The World

My students need a variety of 16 books on Ancient China and India, including "Marco Polo: Overland to China" and "India: The Essential Guide to Customs and Culture".

I teach 5 amazing classes of students this year. Four of my classes are 6th graders who are studying ancient history. Our curriculum is based around ancient history that includes Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Greece and Rome. Your donation would be directly impacting students in New York City.

Many students arrive in middle school without much exposure to social studies. It is up to me as their sixth grade teacher to really get them hooked on a subject that I love. In order to be able to get students interested in such far away places it is important to me to have a great library for the kids to use on a daily basis. Having books that we can use in the classroom will not only help the students become engaged in the material, it will also help them hone their research skills. In this day and age with information only a few clicks away, many students rely on Google far more than they should.

The various books on Ancient China and India will enrich our units on these subjects. Having books in their hands that have great visuals and interesting information will help students learn content while improving everyday life skills such as literacy and research skills.

Your donation will make it possible for my students to continue to fall in love with history. It will also help them to further connect to the vast world around them.
