Science should be a course where students can investigate, create, and be inspired. I strive to teach this way in my 6th grade Science classroom at a public school in coastal North Carolina.

Middle school students love to create, and with today's technology tools, they can do just that. I introduced my students to programming software called Alice, and they have taken off running. They are inspired by all "techie" things, and are motivated to use them. My school is lucky enough to have recently purchased some Dell Minis due to a PTO fundraiser. The students were SO excited to use them! Any number of mundane topics suddenly became immensely interesting as they used the Minis to learn, investigate, and create.

To help my students create, I need a Flip Camcorder. Young adolescents are hungry to create products that showcase what they've learned. No longer are paper and pencil products motivating to most of today's students. They need to use technology to show what they know. By purchasing a Flip Camcorder for my students, you will be giving them a vital tool for knowledge creation. This particular camera is easy to use in recording as well as in downloading to a computer and integrating with other software products thanks to its handy-dandy USB connector. My students will be able to create videos showcasing what they have learned in class. When students get the chance to create, rather than regurgitate, it inspires deeper understanding, knowledge building, and lays the foundation for future creativity. All of these skills will help them become more successful students in the future, and eventually, productive employees.

Your help will ensure that my students are learning skills that will benefit them for years to come. Creating products using a video camera will build problem solving skills, help them learn essential Science content, and engage them in learning!
