I teach first grade in a title one school. This school is located in a high need community with low parent involvement. My students have very little reading material at home to choose from.

My students are eager to learn and are involved in reading instruction all throughout the day. However, I can only help my students when they are with me and at home they get limited to no help from their parents. They love to read my books at school but they also have very few books at home to choose from.

Our classroom needs multiple books of various levels for my students to read to themselves. They also need books that they can have access to and take home to read for our nightly reading log. These books will help them to continue developing their comprehension and grow in their reading levels.

With your help, my students can grow enough to be on grade level by the time they are finished with first grade. You will make it possible for them to go into second grade with confidence and pride in their reading.
