The colorful paper fans, lanterns, bulletin-board materials, educational displays, positive messages, and other decorative touches have transformed our classroom into an inviting place where students are excited to learn.\r\nWhen my students first entered the decorated classroom, their faces lit up. They eagerly looked around, pointed out their favorite items, and shared how much they loved their new learning space. As a teacher in a Title I school, it is especially meaningful to provide my students with a beautiful classroom that reminds them they are valued and deserving of a positive place to learn.\r\nThese resources are doing much more than decorating our room. Our affirmation station and classroom door remind students that they are loved, smart, strong, capable, and important. Our calming corner provides a safe space where students can identify their emotions, practice grounding exercises, use positive affirmations, and regain control before returning to learning. The visual class schedule helps students anticipate transitions, follow routines, and become more responsible and independent.\r\nThe decorations also support our academic learning. The multiplication-number display reinforces math facts, the \"Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader\" display encourages a love of reading, and our bulletin boards provide welcoming spaces for vocabulary, anchor charts, student work, and examples of current learning.\r\nOur next step is to continue using these resources during morning meetings, reading and math lessons, and social-emotional learning activities. We will also add more student work to the displays so students can see their progress and take pride in their accomplishments.\r\nThank you for providing much more than classroom decorations. With over 400 students at our Title I school in Lexington, NC, many of whom are students of color, having one more large instrument greatly increases student access and participation.\r\n\r\nThis additional xylophone provides more opportunities for students to play the \"big\" instruments during whole-class and small-group instruction. Instead of rotating quickly or waiting for a turn, more students can actively engage in ensemble playing at the same time, allowing for deeper musical learning and more consistent practice.\r\n\r\nWe are using the alto xylophone to support lessons on steady beat, melodic patterns, and ensemble skills. These durable, high-quality instruments are designed for years of use, helping us maintain strong, consistent music instruction and meaningful student engagement for many years to come.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using this instrument in rotating ensembles, student-created patterns, and class performances where every child has an active role.
