Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Nestled in the Southwest corner of Michigan within a large metropolitan area, my third grade class of Patriots are in dire need for resource materials and literature. More than ever before in my career, I find that students interest in technology is paramount to to building enthusiasm in reading. My class is a microcosm of American society, a myriad of ethnic students from multi-cultural backgrounds of which many are English Language Learners (ESL), learning that education is there path to success and making there country great. My Patriots (each year we select a class name) are missing the benefit of a class room computer and our school is without a functioning computer lab. Having a mobile computing notebook will add inspiration and liberation to the instruction to our patriotic classroom.

In this pocket of the state, we have witnessed school closures, dwindling budgets and massive lay-offs. Our school district is undergoing huge budgetary constraints. My school is challenged with educating with extremely limited resources. Without a computer in my third grade class and a school lacking a functioning computer lab, it is a huge obstacle to motivating our students. This also, places our students in a deficit with other children in districts with better facilities for technology which can lead to a larger gap among the at-risk youths in my classroom. Your donation can liberate these Patriots to independent learning!!

Our Patriots need resources and technology so, having a mobile notebook will solve a need. This mobile notebook will allow our students to have access to hundreds of volumes of library resource materials and age appropriate literature. This mobile notebook is also a wonderful editing tool which can have students upload there individual writing and share with each other. This one notebook will help reluctant readers with the appeal of technology likewise, it will provide a wide variety of selections for accelerated readers to explore new text and free students for research projects.

Patriotism is gained through a reverence to an individual's country because of its generous bounty in securing the rights of its citizens. My third grade Patriots are learning the democratic process and the greatness of our country. You, today, with a single donation will be a part of igniting the enthusiasm that technology will spark in my classroom. Yes, your generosity will illustrate the power and liberation of democracy dedicated to elevating a new generation of children to be American Patriots in thought and deeds. We can continue the United States' standard of excellence by liberating creativity with a hand held library.
