In Michigan, there is a huge financial crisis which has created unemployment, some of the largest home foreclosures in the nation, school closures and a decline in educational resources in our school district. My school has a high "at-risk" population and a high needs free breakfast and lunch program. Precocious and spirited are words that describe my fourth grade students. This year my classroom's theme is Star Wars so, we call ourselves Padawans. These innovators have a wonderful future which can be the change we need in our community and country.
