All These Paths And Not A Compass To Find Our Way

My students need 30 compasses and other instructional aids for orienteering.

A group of students who love to learn new things they can actually use. I am a PE and Health teacher in a middle school. I teach 5-6th grade PE and that is who this proposal is intended for. We are full inclusion in our PE classes and I am often looking for great activities and units, that are not just team sports, that can help force them to work together.

Behind our school is a lot of woods and paths in the woods. This is the perfect place to teach basic orienteering. In addition the town I teach in is relatively rural and has a lot of good hiking which the students could use to remain active out of class.

In order for me to ensure that they know how to navigate through the woods, I need compasses and other training materials. This will give them the tools necessary to get the most out of what our community has to offer. It should also help instill a sense of respect for the out of doors and hopefully more respect for their town and surroundings.

With your help these students will all have the opportunity to learn an invaluable skill, that can be used to help them remain physically active for the rest of their lives. In donating you are personally helping defeat obesity by providing a practical skill that can help them remain active. Unfortunately, this skill can not be accurately or fairly covered without your help.
