I teach a full day section of pre-kindergarten in a public school setting. My class consists of 20 four-year-olds coming from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Our free and reduced lunch rate is over 70%.

We run a literacy based program that uses books and games to teach basic skills and concepts. I make lots of books for the children using photos of them as the characters so that the stories and concepts will mean more to them. I post pictures of the students next to their names all around the classroom, whether it be in a book, on the wall or in a learning game so that the children feel ownership of their classroom. Feeling at home in your classroom is a very vital part of learning. Children like to feel involved in the learning community. I have a digital camera, but it gets so expensive when sending the pictures off to have them printed. If I had my own photo printer and ink, it would be much more cost effective.

We need a photo printer and photo ink for our classroom. By having these materials provided, we will be able to print pictures of children to use around the room on our "word wall", in children's books and in learning games. We will also be able to print pictures of field trips and guests that come to visit in order to make books that will help us remember these experiences.

Your help with this project will enable us to print our pictures and memories of learning throughout the entire school year. We would love to be able to share our excitement about learning and the progress we have made with parents and visitors that enter our classroom at all times.
