60 5th graders, average reading level at 3.5, limited books, and no books on tape. But that can all change! I teach all the 5th graders at my school reading and we are in desperate need of some books on tape! I work in a high-need community with the privilege of teaching motivated and eager children! Help us become better readers!

A huge emphasis is placed on silent and sustained reading at the elementary level. However, we have very limited resources at my school. When my students have access to new books or the occasional book on tape, they are excited and motivated to continue reading! They deserve the best, but often it is hard to accommodate due to lack of resources.

I am requesting 16 books on tape. By listening and following along to books, students increase their fluency and reading comprehension. It will help my 5th grade students reading at a pre-primer level to understand on-level texts and will push my high flying readers to soar even higher! With access to these resources, my students will be given a new opportunity to be successful and excellent readers!
