"This spring my students will find out who is behind the curtain making it all happen!

I teach at an an alternative high school in a high-need community. My students are over age and under credited and our school is a second chance for them to complete high school. Through the use of thematic courses I try to engage students in a higher level of inquiry while preparing them to graduate and hopefully go on to college!

This year my students are exploring fairy tales, mythology, legends and fables. This spring we will be exploring the "journey myth" (a reoccurring theme throughout literature - having to leave home in order to come to a new level of understanding about who we are and where we have come from and what makes a family).

Budgets have been cut this year so I am looking for other ways to bring class sets of books into my classroom.

For this course we are seeking a class set of the classic novel "The Wizard of OZ".

Many students have seen the film at some point in their lives but the book is a different adventure. By joining Dorothy on her journey of self discovery, I hope that my students will discover something about themselves, where they have come from, where they can go and all the amazing people they may meet along the way!

With your help my students will gain important experiences working with a classic text as well as traveling on a yellow brick journey that will allow my students to dig deeper into who they are and who they CAN be in the years to come. HIDE

My students need a class set of The Wizard of Oz. The cost of this proposal is $223, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."
