Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach a wonderful group of fourth graders that love to share their adventures. Some of my students are ESL. Our school is in a beautiful community with great parent support.

Did you know that currently some people from the Philipines are immigrating to the USA on boats? One of my students lost a friend when a boat went down. It was her writing that revealed this. Students have life changing experiences that they desire to share. The problem is finding the right words. They get stuck and then shut down. Dictionaries and thesaurus help them find those words. With growing numbers my classroom was added to the grade level this year. The teachers were gracious enough to share a few dictionaries with me. There is not enough to go around. The thesaurus' are extremely old and we only have a few.

My students desire to have their own class dictionaries, thesaurus and idiom books. These books will help them find new words and a fresh voice. Please provide the tools so these kids can share engaging pieces of writing.

You will unlock potential and empower these students to write for years to come. Some day it could be their book you purchase at Barnes and Nobel!
